Magalu grows installs and purchases with Apple Ads during a short sales period in January

Magalu, or Magazine Luiza, is one of Brazil’s most well-known retailers. What started as a single store in 1957 has grown into a major force in both e-commerce and physical retail.

GOAL

The Promoção Fantástica (Fantastic Sale) is an important sales strategy for Magalu, created to spike performance during a time of the year that usually lacks major promotional activity in Brazil. Held on January 3rd and 4th, it marks the start of the retail calendar and brings a noticeable rise in shopper interest.

 

For this edition, Magalu wanted to make the most of the opportunity by increasing app installs and boosting in-app purchases on iOS. The goal wasn’t just to be seen. It was about reaching users with real intent, improving conversions, and turning those two days into meaningful growth.

 

ROCKET LAB's solution

In partnership with Monks, a global marketing and technology agency, Rocket Lab created a custom Apple Ads strategy for the campaign. The plan used both branded and non-branded keywords to reach users at different stages of their journey. This helped Magalu appear in top search results, whether people were looking for the brand or for similar products.

 

We combined placements across Search Results, Today Tab and Search Tab to give Magalu strong visibility and leverage installs throughout the App Store during the two-day event.

 

The team monitored results in real time and made adjustments to improve performance. This approach helped Magalu stay visible, relevant, and efficient while maximizing the campaign window.

In just two days, the campaign showed clear and measurable impact.

One of the first signs of success was a 26% increase in the click-to-install rate. More users were not only noticing the ads but also choosing to install the app, showing a clear connection between visibility and action.

 

Once inside the app, users followed through. The purchase rate per install grew by 77%, proving that the campaign was reaching the right audience. These weren’t just clicks. They were users ready to shop.

 

In total, the campaign generated over 10,000 in-app events, showcasing a strong sign of engagement and intent. From start to finish, the strategy turned a short sales window into meaningful results for Magalu, both in installs and in the actions that followed.
